Where are our checks and balances? Where are the decent men elected to protect us from carpetbaggers like Obama and his criminal gang? ACORN has been found guilty of voter fraud, illegal voter registration, conspiracy to traffic in child prostitution, human trafficking, and G-d knows what. My taxpayer dollars cannot be used to fund these vile criminals. And they dump this on a Friday night during the Thanksgiving holiday. Who are these people? NY TIMES: Attorney General Says ACORN Can Be Funded by Federal Govmnt... WASHINGTON — The Justice Department has concluded that the Obama administration can lawfully pay the community group Acorn for services provided under contracts signed before Congress enacted a law banning the government from providing funds to the group. "Conservative critics" -- man, what asshats reside at the Times. Is "rule of law" a conservative issue? Is prostitution, ripping off the government, child trafficking a progressive platform for liberals? The department's conclusion, laid out in a recently disclosed five-page memorandum from David Barron, the acting assistant attorney general for the Office of Legal Counsel, adds a new wrinkle to a sharp political debate over the antipoverty group's activities and recent efforts to distance the government from it. Since 1994, Acorn, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, has received about $53 million in federal aid, much of it grants from the Department of Housing and Urban Development for providing various services related to affordable housing. But the group has become a prime target for conservative critics, and on Oct. 1, President Obama signed into law a spending bill that included a provision that said no taxpayer funds — including funds authorized by previous legislation — could be "provided to" the group or its affiliates. A Housing and Urban Development lawyer asked the Justice Department whether the new law meant that pre-existing contracts with Acorn should be broken. But in a memorandum signed Oct. 23 and posted online this week, Mr. Barron said the government should continue to make payments to Acorn as required by such contracts. There's more. Attorney General Offers Incoherent, Troubling Answers When Asked About ACORN Doc Dump Christian girl, 16, gets 50 lashes for wearing 'indecent' knee-length skirtRespect it, infidels. Christian girl, 16, gets 50 lashes for wearing 'indecent' knee-length skirt in Sudan Daily Mail A 16-year-old Sudanese girl was lashed 50 times after a judge ruled her knee-length skirt was indecent, her family said today. The mother of Christian teenager Silva Kashif said she is to sue police and the judge who imposed the sentence under Islamic shariah law. Saying she only learned about her daughter's conviction after she had been lashed, mother Jenty Doro said the family's religion should have been taken into account. Kashif, whose family comes from the south Sudanese town of Yambio, was arrested while walking to the market near her home in the Khartoum suburb of Kalatla last week, Doro told Reuters. Al-Haj said he was hoping to win compensation and to clear Kashif's record. 'We are also against the law itself. We want the law to be changed.' The case will add fuel to a debate already raging over Sudan's decency laws after this year's high-profile conviction of Sudanese U.N. official Lubna Hussein, who was briefly jailed for wearing trousers in public. Hussein, a former journalist who used her case to campaign against Sudan's public order and decency regulations, is touring France to publicise her book about the prosecution. She had faced the maximum penalty of 40 lashes but was given a lighter sentence. Arrests for indecency, drunkenness and other public order offences are not uncommon in Khartoum which is governed by Islamic sharia law. Going Mental: The Jihadis' Joke on America has begun, thanks to President MO and Hijab HolderAnd so it begins ............ the O administration kicking America in the head, heart, soul. Wall Street Journal By JESS BRAVIN WASHINGTON -- When five defendants are brought before a New York federal judge to face charges for the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the first question may be whether some of them are competent to stand trial at all. Military lawyers for Ramzi Binalshibh, an accused organizer of the 9/11 plot, and Mustafa al-Hawsawi, the conspiracy's alleged paymaster, say their clients have mental disorders that make them unfit for trial, likely caused or exacerbated by years of harsh confinement in Central Intelligence Agency custody. The issue already has arisen in military-commission proceedings at the military's detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. According to an August ruling by a military judge, prosecutors have made an "apparent concession" that Mr. Binalshibh "suffers from a delusional disorder-persecutory type" disorder. Mr. Binalshibh has been prescribed "a variety of psychotropic medications used to treat schizophrenia and/or bipolar disorder, including Haldol, Abilify, risperidone and Ativan," according to commission records. In October 2008, a military medical board reported Mr. Binalshibh may suffer from "severe mental disease" that could "impair his ability to conduct or cooperate intelligently in his defense." A military attorney for Mr. Hawsawi, Lt. Cmdr. Gretchen Sosbee, said the military judge ordered a mental evaluation of her client, but its results haven't yet been entered into the record. It long has been unconstitutional to prosecute people who are unable to understand proceedings against them or assist in their defense, whether in federal court, court-martial or military commission. The JudenratCaroline Glick on Bibi's terrible capitualtion: Bibi's bad week: Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu weakened Israel this week. And he did so for no good reason. The day after Netanyahu bowed to US pressure and announced a total freeze on Jewish construction in Judea and Samaria for ten months, Yediot Aharonot reported that the Obama administration now wants Israel to release a thousand Fatah terrorists from prison. The Americans also want Israel to allow US-trained, terror-supporting Fatah paramilitary forces to deploy in areas that are currently under Israeli military control. Moreover, the Americans are demanding that Israel surrender land in the strategically crucial Jordan Valley to Fatah. And these are just American preconditions for starting negotiations with the Palestinians. According to Yediot, if those talks ever begin, the White House will demand that Israel accept a Palestinian state in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and Gaza and agree to ethnically cleanse all the areas of Jews. So far from winning American support or at least causing the White House to ease its bullying, US President Barack Obama sees Netanyahu's decision to implement a militarily irrational, bigoted policy of prohibiting Jews from building in Israel's heartland as a drop in the bucket. THE TRUTH is that Israel should not be in the business of negotiating the right of Israeli cities and villages to exist and prosper. The notion that it is acceptable to demand that Jews not be permitted to live in Judea and Samaria - or anywhere else in the world - is not a notion that Israel should countenance. Dan F explains what we are really experiencing. The JudenratWhen the German authorities herded the Jewish population of Poland first into urban areas, and subsequently into ghettos, they required each community to form a Jewish Council. In smaller cities the councils had twelve members, in larger towns the number was twenty-four. Most often composed of former community leaders, the councils took on all the duties of a local government. Most importantly for the Germans, the councils acted as intermediaries to carry out the their increasingly oppressive dictates, such as providing forced labor battalions for German war factories, and eventually even delivering Jews directly to the trains bound for the death camps. ### [History repeating itself: Jews crowded into successively smaller parcels of land as their submissive leaders carry out the oppressive dictates of hostile authorities. "The presence of Jews is the problem, Netanyahu. Eliminate their presence." The only difference being, this time the Jews, and their leaders, had a choice. df] O-GivingGreat News: Lord Pearson Elected UK Independence Party LeaderOne small step for a political party, one giant step for free men :) Profile: UKIP leader Lord Pearson BBC hat tip Paul Belien Go Lord P.! There's more, read it.It is often argued that frontline politics needs more colour, that dull careerists are robbing it of any interest for most people. In electing Lord Pearson of Rannoch as its new leader, the UK Independence Party has gone some way to rectifying that situation. The Eton-educated insurance broker is always up for a public fight - the bigger the opponent, it seems, the better. In his time he has declared war on, among others, Lloyd's of London, the Home Office and Marxism. However, the foe which has taken central billing in the 67-year-old's cast of villains is the European Union. 'Head and shoulders' For years he has railed against its inefficiencies and incursions on the UK's national sovereignty. As leader of a party calling for withdrawal from the organisation, he should be in his element. But he is also under some pressure. Previous leader Nigel Farage - who stood down to contest a Westminster seat at the next general election - is a difficult act to follow. A polished media performer, he took UKIP to second place in June's European elections, returning 13 MEPs.
But in the bigger fight - to raise UKIP's profile in the face of opposition from the "main political parties" - he will be more David than Goliath. Jonathan Aitken, the former Tory cabinet minister, would argue that it is a role well suited to Lord Pearson, born Malcolm Pearson in 1942. He told the Daily Telegraph: "In my eyes, he has more moral and physical courage - and the remarkable tenacity that goes with those qualities - than anyone I have ever met short of an SAS commander. "In my first week at Eton in 1956 I saw this tiny little boy on the football field, not only playing with skill but also tackling boys three times his size." After school, Mr Pearson started a successful and lucrative career in the City. In case you missed my mini interview with Lord Pearson, a few months back: Celebration of "Submission"You must check out the silly, fawning, shoe-licking piece Meredith "hijabed" Heagney penned for the Columbus Dispatch on the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha: Celebration of submission Muslims mark Eid al-Adha with charity and fun (hat tip Greg) It's particularly disgusting considering that this is the same dhimmi tool advocating for Christian convert Rifqa Bary's return to her devout Muslim household. And frankly, I find the whole new "Abrahamic" narrative really galling. 1,400 years ago some maniac decided to spin the origin of a 5,767 year old religion to advance his own evil ends and said it was Ishmael that Abraham was to kill -- and now it's taken as .....gospel? Puhleeeze. In a story that appears in both the Quran and the Bible, Abraham is commanded by God to kill his son. Muslims believe the intended victim was Ishmael; Jews and Christians believe it was Isaac. I love how these tools try to equate Islam with Judaism and Christianity. Polar opposites, my friends. Judaism has nothing in common with Islam. Zip. Meanwhile, they keep stealing all our stuff. Furthermore, notice how Heagney spreads the taqiya about the Noor Islamic Center without mentioning its seriously disturbing terror ties to extremists. The Noor Islamic Cultural Center in Hilliard raised money for 800 turkeys that were distributed Tuesday to low-income families with children in the Columbus Public Schools. The story just broke yesterday that the Noor mosque had ties to Major Muslim Massacring Hasan's imam. More trouble for Rifqa: Fort Hood Major Massacre Muslim Hasan Tied to Rifqa's Mosque Hellloooooooooooooooo Meredith. The thing is, if Heagney wants to spread the dawah, that's fine. But she should not be reporting on the Rifqa Bary case, where an apostate's life is at stake. She is a propaganda grinder for CAIR. I am sure she gets all of her ridiculous talking points from them. She has no shame. Heagney has clearly taken sides, and she will throw anyone and anything under the bus in her submission to Islam. Send Rifqa a Christmas Card. She is not alone! Rifqa Bary c/o Angela Lloyd 255C Drinko Hall 55 West 12th Avenue Columbus, OH 43201 UPDATE: Atlas reader Diane just came across this. Man, am I sorry I didn't crash this event. I would have bitchslapped the dhimmi bastids. Check out "angry blogger". Oh yes, we are angry about these tools for Islamic supremacists trying to bury a girl alive. Look at these clowns patting themselves on the back Covering the Rifqa Bary case Posted on October 26, 2009 The story of Rifqa Bary, a 17-year-old girl who converted from Islam to Christianity then ran away from home, has been one of the most enduring stories of the year. Join the Central Ohio Society of Professional Journalists for its annual diversity event at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at the Worthington Inn, where reporters from the Columbus Dispatch and Orlando Sentinel will talk about the challenges of covering the Bary story, and which touches on religion, parenting, law and societal assumptions and misconceptions. The Sentinel and Dispatch - Rifqa's willing executioners.Bary secretly left her New Albany home this summer to join a Christian minister and his family in Orlando, Fla. Although her parents deny the claims, Bary repeatedly told law enforcement she had to leave because her family would kill her for converting. The result has been a protracted battle in Ohio and Florida courts and a deluge of letters and comments to newspapers from Christians, Muslims, parents and readers. Reporters covering the story have heard an earful from both sides — and dealt with many an angry blogger — during their coverage. Dispatch columnist Joe Blundo will moderate. No cover charge, free hors d'oeuvres and cash bar. Come one, come all ......... Christians to lions. No cover charge!UPDATE: And they give out awards for this propagandist garbage: Best Religion Reporting FIRST: Body of work, Meredith Heagney, The Columbus Dispatch. SECOND: Body of work, David Yonke, The Toledo Blade. And Diane points out a quote from Heagney's article, Opening Doors, Minds, April 27, 2007 at the Columbus Dispatch: "mheagney@dispatch.com faces, hands and feet before prayer, and the closet where Muslim women keep spare head scarves for anyone who needs one. Non-Muslim women are not asked to cover their heads. Guests simply are expected to dress modestly, as they would at any place of worship."So she wears it just because she wants to? GE Goes Where Fools Dare to TreadThey have been saying how wonderful this Islamic finance has been doing. More taqiya. I am glad. Anything to discourage financing the spread of Islam. Bloomberg markets are down big -- but if that's what it takes ............... (hat tip Anthony) Dubai shook investor confidence across the Persian Gulf after its proposal to delay debt payments risked triggering the biggest sovereign default since Argentina in 2001. (more here)Meanwhile, Obama's pushing this garbage:Obama's Jiyza: GE Capital Plans 1 Billion Dollar ISLAMIC (sukuk) BOND -- Citigroup, Goldman Sachs lead arrangers. Who in their right mind would invest in such a death cult? Western investors watch nervously as worth of Islamic bonds is tested to limit Wall Street Hournal Australia A DEFAULT by Dubai will put the world of Islamic finance to the test at a time when hard questions are being asked by bankers and lawyers about the protection afforded by financial instruments that are Shariah compliant. The bond that lies at the heart of the threat of default and financial ignominy for Dubai is a sukuk, an instrument invented by bankers and Islamic scholars to comply with a Shariah (Islamic law) prohibition against the payment of interest on money. Islamic finance has five pillars: a ban on interest, a ban on speculation, a ban on haram (forbidden) investments, such as pork or gambling, the requirement of partnership or sharing of profit and loss and the requirement of asset backing. Getting round the ban on interest is the problem and opportunity of Islamic finance. A bond that doesn't (in theory) pay interest sounds unattractive but in the Gulf and Malaysia, Islamic finance has flourished over the past decade. Typically, interest is expressed as a share in a profit, such as the rent paid for use of a property or asset. According to estimates by HSBC Amanah, the Islamic arm of the British bank, outstanding Islamic finance debt is worth $US822 billion ($902 billion). Even Western investors have been persuaded to dip their toes in the exotic financial tool, tempted by the deep pool of petrodollars available in the Gulf. Only days before Dubai revealed its bombshell - a threat of possible default on Nakheel's $US4 billion sukuk - GE Capital, the American financial services group, issued the first sukuk by a Western company, raising $US500 million. The underpinning of a sukuk with assets makes it attractive for use in property lending or asset leasing. The sukuk issued by GE this week was a loan for aircraft leasing. GE's decision to use the Islamic finance market for funds reflected renewed confidence in a market that had almost collapsed after expansion in 2007 when the Gulf was awash with money fuelled by high oil prices. Demand shrivelled after the collapse of Lehman Brothers with only $US16 billion issued last year. More importantly, fears surfaced that sukuk failed to provide the same legal protection as conventional bonds. To date, the legal structure of sukuk has never been tested in a court. More here from Bloomberg: Dubai Debt Delay Rattles Confidence in Gulf Borrowers The cost of protecting government notes from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain rose, extending the steepest increase since February as Dubai World, with $59 billion of liabilities, sought a "standstill" agreement from creditors. Its debt includes $3.52 billion of bonds due Dec. 14 from property unit Nakheel PJSC. Dubai credit-default swaps climbed 90 basis points to 530 after yesterday increasing the most since they began trading in January, CMA Datavision prices showed. "There is nothing investors dislike more than this kind of event," said Norval Loftus, the head of convertible bonds and Islamic debt at Matrix Group Ltd. in London, which manages $2.5 billion of assets including Dubai credits. "The worst-case scenario will, of course, be involuntary restructuring on the Nakheel security that brings into question the entire nature of the sovereign support for various borrowers in the region." Dubai World's assets range from stakes in Las Vegas casino company MGM Mirage to London-traded bank Standard Chartered Plc and luxury retailer Barneys New York through asset-management firm Istithmar PJSC. The Dubai government's attempt to reschedule debt triggered declines in stocks worldwide that had been rebounding from the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. 'Debt Burden' "We understand the concerns of the market and the creditors in particular," said Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al- Maktoum, who chairs the Supreme Fiscal Committee in charge of apportioning financial support to ailing companies, in the first statement to come out of the Dubai government since the announcement about debt rescheduling. "However, we have had to intervene because of the need to take decisive action to address its particular debt burden." The MSCI Emerging Markets Index of stocks had the biggest decline in four weeks, falling 2.2 percent, led by Russia and China. Europe's Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index lost 3.3 percent in London, the biggest decline since April 20. South Africa's rand and the Turkish lira weakened 2.1 percent against the dollar. Hungary's forint lost 1.7 percent per euro. Credit-default swaps on Russia increased to 205 basis points from 192. The MSCI World Index of 23 developed markets has risen 26 percent this year after banks worldwide recorded more than $1.7 trillion in writedowns and losses and governments committed about $12 trillion to shore up economies. 'Shock' Announcement "The announcement was a shock," said Beat Siegenthaler, chief emerging-market strategist at TD Securities Ltd. in London. "It is strongly affecting European markets." Dubai, ruled by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, borrowed $80 billion in a four-year construction boom to transform the economy into a regional tourism and financial hub. The emirate suffered the world's steepest property slump in the global recession, with home prices dropping 50 percent from their 2008 peak, according to Deutsche Bank AG. Moody's Investors Service and Standard & Poor's cut the ratings on Dubai state companies yesterday, saying they may consider Dubai World's plan to delay debt payments a default. Gulf region default swaps jumped, with contracts linked to Bahrain adding 29 basis points today to 223.5, the biggest increase since Feb. 18. Contracts linked to Abu Dhabi added the most since February yesterday, climbing 36 basis points to 136.5 and were another 23 basis points higher at 159.5 today, according to London-based CMA. Qatar default swaps rose 13 basis points to 117, adding to yesterday's 11 basis-point increase. 'Further Defaults' "Dubai is the most indicative of the huge global liquidity boom and now in the aftermath there will be further defaults to come in emerging markets and globally," said Nick Chamie, head of emerging-market research at Toronto-based RBC Capital Markets. Saudi Arabia default swaps climbed the most since February, adding 18 basis points to 108. The British Bankers' Association asked the U.K. government to intervene with Saudi authorities over debts of at least $20 billion owed to as many as 100 banks by Saad Group and Ahmad Hamad Algosaibi & Brothers Co., two family holding companies based in the oil city of Al-Khobar, according to a letter dated Nov. 20. Default swaps on Dubai World unit DP World Ltd., the Middle East's biggest port operator, jumped by a record 181 basis points to 540.5 yesterday and were priced another 72 basis points higher today at 612, according to CMA data. 'Restructuring Process' Dubai World had $59.3 billion in liabilities and $99.6 billion in total assets at the end of 2008, subsidiary Nakheel Development Ltd. said in an August statement. Dubai owes $4.3 billion next month and $4.9 billion in the first quarter of 2010 through government and corporate debt, Deutsche Bank AG data show. "DP World and its debt are not included in the restructuring process for Dubai World," the government said in a statement to Nasdaq Dubai today. The price of Nakheel's bonds fell to 70.5 cents on the dollar from 84 yesterday and 110.5 a week ago, according to Citigroup Inc. prices on Bloomberg. "Nakheel is now standing on the brink of failure given the astonishing amount of cash Dubai would have to inject on it in order to see the enterprise survive," said Luis Costa, emerging-market debt strategist at Commerzbank AG in London. "Events like this are a perfect storm." Dubai credit-default swaps now rank as the fifth most expensive worldwide, exceeding Iceland's and Latvia's. Preventing a Default The contracts, which increase as perceptions of credit quality deteriorate, pay the buyer face value in exchange for the underlying securities or the cash equivalent should a company fail to adhere to its debt agreements. A basis point is 0.01 percentage point and is equivalent to $1,000 a year on a contract protecting $10 million of debt. UBS AG, Switzerland's largest bank, said it expects the U.A.E. will prevent a default by Nakheel. Owners of bonds sold by Nakheel scheduled a conference call today, said an investor and a trader who received the details. Dubai is one of seven sheikhdoms in the U.A.E. that includes Abu Dhabi, which holds 8 percent of the world's oil reserves and bought $5 billion of bonds sold by Dubai yesterday through state-controlled banks. Sheikh Mohammed turned to Abu Dhabi's central bank on Feb. 23 to raise $10 billion by selling debt. The emirate's credit default swaps dropped 178 basis points that day, after trading for a record 976 basis points. Bond Sale Unlike Argentina, which stopped payments on $95 billion of debt eight years ago after yields on benchmark bonds more than doubled in four months to more than 40 percent, Dubai's announcement yesterday "was a surprise," said Alia Moubayed, a London-based economist at Barclays Plc. The government raised $1.93 billion last month in its first sale of Islamic bonds, attracting more than $6.3 billion of orders. The dollar-denominated securities due 2014, which are governed by Shariah laws barring investors from profiting from the exchange of money, dropped to 5.5 percent today to 92 cents, lifting the yield to 8.4 percent from 6.2 percent on Nov. 24, according to ING Groep NV prices on Bloomberg. Gulf International Bank BSC, a Bahrain-based lender owned by the governments of six Gulf Arab states, postponed a planned sale of bonds in a $4 billion debt program, citing the "unexpected announcement" from Dubai, according to an e-mailed statement today. 'Standstill' Agreement Dubai World will ask creditors for a "standstill" agreement as it negotiates to extend maturities, including $3.52 billion of Islamic bonds due Dec. 14 from Nakheel, Dubai's Department of Finance said in an e-mailed statement yesterday. Dubai World's more than 70 creditors face the prospect of writedowns on as much as $60 billion of debt if they haven't unloaded their holdings and the state-owned company fails to win additional support from Abu Dhabi. The biggest creditors are Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank and Emirate NBD PJSC. Other lenders include Credit Suisse Group AG, HSBC Holdings Plc, Barclays, Lloyds Banking Group Plc and Royal Bank of Scotland Group Plc, according to a person familiar with the situation. Barclays slumped as much as 6.9 percent, the biggest intraday loss in a month, while RBS sank as much as 8.3 percent. Lloyds and Credit Suisse dropped more than 3 percent. "Our exposure is immaterial," said Credit Suisse spokesman Marc Dosch. HSBC, Lloyds and RBS declined to comment when contacted by Bloomberg. Simon Eaton, a spokesman for Barclays Capital in London, also declined to comment. More Recent Articles

| New ClimateGate Shocker: BBC Climate Reporter Sent Damning CRU Emails Month Before They Were Leaked Posted: 25 Nov 2009 09:54 PM PST The Climate change scandal deepened today as the BBC Climate Expert/ Weatherman Paul Hudson made a shocking claim that he received the damning 'cover-up' emails a more than month before they were leaked over the internet, adding to the speculation that this wasn't a case of hacking into the University's computers from the outside but an internal whistle-blower: Paul Hudson, weather presenter and climate change expert, claims the documents allegedly sent between some of the world's leading scientists are of a direct result of an article he wrote.Of Course this also begs the question why did Hudson wait six weeks before he told anyone that he had received the emails. In Hudson's full blog post he wrote: Climategate' - CRU hacked into and its implications
In more Climategate news George Monbiot, a leading environmentalist, said Phil Jones the Scientist in the center of many of the most damning emails, should resign from the Climatic Research Unit over leaked emails that appear to show researchers suppressed scientific data. In addition Lord Lawson, former Chancellor of the University, called for an independent inquiry into claims that leading British climate change scientists manipulated data to strengthen the case for made-made global warming. The former Chancellor said the content of hundreds of leaked emails from the University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit was a 'scandal' - and warned that the credibility and integrity of UK science was at stake. Indeed the credibility and integrity of science across the world is at stake, its time to find out what is really going on. Please email me at yidwithlid@aol.com to be put onto my mailing list. | OOPS!!! Obama Accidentally Does The Right Thing in Honduras-Finally "Dumps" Zelaya Posted: 25 Nov 2009 06:35 PM PST Even a broken clock is correct two times a day. Ever since Honduras deposed President Zelaya in June, the United States has been on the wrong side of the issue, supporting Zelaya and his buddy Hugo Chavez, against the people of Honduras, their democracy and the country's constitution. The former President's disposal was in line with the Honduras Constitution as the Zelaya was illegally attempting to stay in power despite the constitutional ban on running for another term. There is even a constitutional ban on revising the Presidential term limit. While the military removed him from office, it was ordered by the supreme court and they immediately returned power to the civilian leadership. The new President, Roberto Micheletti is even from the same party as the deposed president. The Obama administration originally said it would not recognize the election unless Zelaya, was reinstated. Obama changed his naive position after the rival sides signed an agreement backed by the Organization of American States. The agreement calls for the Honduran Congress to vote on whether the ousted Zelaya should be reinstated to complete his term, which ends in January (the congressional vote is scheduled for 12/2) The Election is next Sunday Nov.29th, former President Zelaya is still holed up in the Brazilian embassy after sneaking back into the country in September, and the United States is indicating that it will support the results of the election. State Department spokesman Ian Kelly says the U.S. thinks it is important that the people of Honduras have the opportunity to "express their votes in a free and transparent way." The United States says it supports Sunday's presidential election in Honduras as an "essential" part of a solution to that country's ongoing political crisis. Spokesman Kelly noted that the election, in which neither Mr. Micheletti nor Mr. Zelaya is running, is being organized by an electoral tribunal that was selected and installed in a transparent, democratic process before the coup. He said it is important the election be seen as free, fair and transparent, and is monitored by a credible international monitoring process.Success by accident, but finally Obama does the Right thing, says David Freddoso of the Washington Examiner: By hanging Zelaya out to dry -- leaving him powerless and languishing in the Brazilian Embassy in Tegucigalpa, possibly facing trial for illegally seeking re-election -- the administration saves face in Honduras and ultimately does the right thing. The Honduran Congress will vote on Dec. 2, after the next president has been elected, whether to reinstate Zelaya as a lame duck, and with the election already decided, they won't be under any pressure to do so and reverse their earlier decision. | Leading Climate Change Scientists Use the "Obama Defense" to Deflect "Stolen Emails" Posted: 25 Nov 2009 04:50 PM PST Some of the leading scientists in the "Holy Church of Global Warming Moonbats" have shown they have learned a very important rule from US President Barack Obama, when confronted with bad facts, attack the person(s) delivering the fact, call the news a big lie or say it was taken totally out of context. And NEVER, back up your claims with facts." That's how he defended himself against his Jeremiah Wright association, porkulus detractors and the opponents of Obamacare. Now Scientists are using that strategy to deflect the storm arising from those "Stolen" emails indicating a cover-up of contrary data by global warming proponents: Three leading scientists who on Tuesday released a report documenting the accelerating pace of climate change said the scandal that erupted last week over hacked emails from climate scientists is nothing more than a "smear campaign" aimed at sabotaging December climate talks in Copenhagen. It seems to me that when Scientist Phil Jones wrote I've just completed Mike's Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd from 1961 for Keith's to hide the decline, THAT was confusing the public. Of course dissenters see the global warming moonbats' actions as a threat. The scientists have taken an unproven theory that was shaky even before the "stolen emails" add to it the fact that they are not allowing any peer reviewed research disagreeing with their funky research to be presented. Then add to it the politicians who see it as an opportunity for more government control, and worldwide income redistribution, and they expect the people who haven't drank the Kool aid to think its anything but a threat? The scientists—Somerville, Michael Mann of Penn State and Eric Steig of University of Washington—were supposed to be discussing their new report, the Copenhagen Diagnosis, a dismal update of the UN IPCC's 2007 climate data by 26 scientists from eight nations.U.S. Sen. James Inhofe , a climate skeptic, said he would launch an inquiry into UN climate change research in response. In an interview with the Washington Times radio show, Inhofe explained the investigation would look into "the way cooked the science to make this thing look as if the science was settled, when all the time of course we knew it was not."CRU Vice-Chancellor of Research Trevor Davies responded in an official statement: "There is nothing in the stolen material which indicates that peer-reviewed publications by CRU, and others, on the nature of global warming and related climate change are not of the highest-quality of scientific investigation and interpretation."Doesn't that sound a little like the defense of Jeremiah Wright last year. Fine, I will bite Mr. Davies, please tell us, what other meaning could this have? The other paper by MM is just garbage – as you knew. De Freitas again. Pielke is also losing all credibility as well by replying to the mad Finn as well – frequently as I see it. I can't see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report. K and I will keep them out somehow – even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is ! Dr Mann Added, They've turned "something innocent into something nefarious,"Au contraire Doctor Mann, you have taken something nefarious and are trying to make it seem innocent. The vital point being left out, he said, is that "regardless of how cherry-picked," there is "absolutely nothing in any of the emails that calls into the question the deep level of consensus of climate change."Its not consensus if it is manufactured through funky data, strong arming and cover-ups. Besides over the past few months many scientists have come out against your data, including that little bogus Hockey Stick data. Or Dr. Syun-Ichi Akasofu, former director of the International Arctic Research Center of the University of Alaska Fairbanks from its establishment in 1998 until January of 2007. Dr Akasofu is one of the leading scientists in global warming and the effect of CO2 on the atmosphere. Doctor Akasofu stunned the global warming world by publishing a document which recommends canceling the upcoming Copenhagen Conference because there is not enough data to prove that global warming is man made. This is a "smear campaign to distract the public," said Mann. "Those opposed to climate action, simply don't have the science on their side," he added. There has been no debate of the facts above or even the paper published by Scientist Mojib Latif said we were facing 10-20 years of global as the result of changes to ocean currents and temperatures in the North Atlantic, a feature known as the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO). Latif also said that the NAO may be partly the cause of warming during the past 30 years. How about this investigation from the New Zealand Climate Science Coalition that shows how some that some of the temperature numbers have been manipulated. And don't even get me started on the data that suggests a direct correlation between global warming and sunspots. The fact is, the Scientists denial of the contrary data has nothing to do with global warming, or science, it is all about the perpetuation of their jobs and the multi-billion-dollar industry they helped found. If they were truly interested in the science, they would be examining the alternate claims rather than putting them aside without inquiry. | Obamacare Unfairly Taxes Families With Handicapped and Chronically Ill Children Posted: 25 Nov 2009 02:45 PM PST One of the ways congress is proposing to fund Obamacare is by putting a cap on Flexible Spending Medical Accounts. For those who are not familiar with those accounts, they allow you to take pre-tax funds from every paycheck into an account managed by your company (or your company's vendor), that you can remove on a tax free basis to pay for uncovered medical bills. This has been a particularly useful program in my family as I have two children with learning disabilities as well as chronic physical conditions (one with scoliosis the other with JRA). At various times in their lives each has required constant medical care, drugs, physical therapy, etc. My daughter was in a back brace for four years which had to be changed every six-eight months because she had the nerve to grow (at least our insurance company said she had a lot of nerve for needing a new brace). My son at times needed special treatments for the constant pain. You get the picture. Both, thank God, are doing very well. While I had a Health Plan at work, when you add up the deductible, the treatments not allowed by the insurance company, the difference between the insurance company's "reasonable fee" and reality, and the difference between the 80% of the fee they are supposed to cover and their version of the reasonable fee, every year my family was thousands of dollars in the medical hole. Without the help of the tax savings from the Flexible Spending Medical Accounts, we might have been up to our "assets" in debt scrambling to get our children the medical care they needed. My family's case is not unusual, nor is it extreme. That's why many are warning about the effects of Obamacare limiting flexible spending accounts on the nation's poor and middle class. | White House Logs Show Heavy Lobbyist Influence on Obamacare Posted: 25 Nov 2009 12:56 PM PST ![]() In one of his major campaign promises President Obama pledge to reduce the influence of lobbyists on the government. Remember he made the pledge not to take money from lobbyists (he did). But he made a good show of it on his first full day in office the NY Times reported: In what ethics-in-government advocates described as a particularly far-reaching move, Mr. Obama barred officials of his administration from lobbying their former colleagues "for as long as I am president." He barred former lobbyists from working for agencies they had lobbied within the past two years and required them to recuse themselves from issues they had handled during that time. The President's Perpetual Campaign website, Organizing for America (OFA) blamed lobbyists for Republican opposition to Obamacare: Today OFA supporters in congressional districts represented by Republican Members of Congress who voted "No" last night received an email from OFA director Mitch Stewart lauding the "220 courageous representatives voted in favor of reform, moving it forward." "Unfortunately, your representative," Stewart says in the email, which names the Member of Congress, "caved to intense pressure from insurance industry lobbyists and voted against health reform." With all this vitriol against the lobbying profession, it seems hypocritical that the President's senior staff has been working with lobbyists on Obamacare: Top aides to President Barack Obama have met early and often with lobbyists, Democratic political strategists and other interests with a stake in the administration's national health care overhaul, White House visitor records obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press show. | Political Correctness is a Cancer in Our Military Posted: 25 Nov 2009 10:35 AM PST If the Ft. Hood terrorist attack teaches us anything, it should teach us that Political Correctness will kill this country. Every day we find out another example of Major Hasan telegraphed his Islamist intentions and the higher ups in the military did nothing for fear of offending the Muslim community.Beyond the Fort Hood Mass Murderer, we see that our government still interacts with terrorist supporting organizations such as CAIR, Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Muslim Students Association, the Muslim American Society who are all children of the Muslim Brotherhood. We even walked away from the word terrorism for "man made disasters." Not all the military is comprised of the heroes that are protecting us from harm. There is a vast uniformed bureaucracy, running, supplying, transporting, feeding etc., the military. Unfortunately this, like all federal bureaucracies is very concerned with self-maintenance, which leads to not making waves, a perfect environment for political correctness. Ft. | Congressional "Pay Now-Buy Later " Health Care Plan Will Explode The Federal Budget Posted: 25 Nov 2009 09:43 AM PST Two days from now is "black Friday," the number one, busiest shopping day of the year. Its called black Friday because if sales are low, retailers and manufacturers are going to have a black year. Many of these items are purchased on a Buy Now-Pay Later basis. In the spirit of black Friday, each house of Congress has passed its own version of Obamacare, unlike this Friday, they are selling us their bill of goods on a Pay Now-Buy Later basis. In each version of the plan Americans are paying billions of dollars of taxes before much money is spent on building their new health care infrastructure. Why is this a bad thing? Because it is the typical Congressional cover-up. When estimating the costs of these supposedly deficit neutral plans, the CBO figured on ten years of taxes, but only 6-7 years of health plan expenses. In reality, if (God Forbid) they are passed, the health care plans will spend more than than their revenues, every year they are in operation. The members of Congress are not stupid, they know that Obamacare is a budget-buster. Yet despite all of the warnings, they are going fill steam ahead, driving America into fiscal insolvency: Damn the deficit: Full speed ahead on health care Michael Barone Please email me at yidwithlid@aol.com to be put onto my mailing list. | The Barack Obama/Sarah Palin Switcheroo Posted: 25 Nov 2009 08:52 AM PST There is an old business adage that says, "Be nice to people on the way up, because you will meet those same people on the way down." President Barack Obama would have been well advised to follow that adage. Think back to a year ago, right after the election. President Obama was at the peak of his popularity. The hope and change president was going to govern from the middle, unite the country, and bring America to new heights. Alaska Governor Sarah Palin was almost at her low. Through no fault of her own she was a political joke. Because of her appeal to the "common" American, she was seen as a major threat to the progressives in the Media and to the Democratic Party. She was lampooned as someone not only unqualified to be president, but in some instances unqualified to be a mother. These vicious and in most cases, false attacks continued even after resigned from her position of governor of Alaska. Now one year later things have changed, President Obama has not governed from the middle, but from the radical left, he has hurt America's image at home and abroad, but in many cases he has united the country (against him). His approval is in a free fall. The former Governor of Alaska has written a book laying out her experiences and her policy. On her interview tour, she has been seen as intelligent and as in touch with the people as the POTUS is out of touch. In short, its as if they pulled a switcheroo: Barack & Sarah's reversal of fortune Please email me at yidwithlid@aol.com to be put onto my mailing list. | CBO Projects Congressional Climate Change Bills Will DAMAGE ECONOMY Posted: 25 Nov 2009 08:00 AM PST President Obama wants to bring Cap and Trade to the United States. The Democratic Party dominated Congressional Budget Office took a look what Cap and Trade would do for the people country they reported it will hurt the poor and middle Class in America. The CBO estimates that the price hikes from a 15% cut in emissions would cost the average household in the bottom-income quintile about 3.3% of its after-tax income every year. That's about $680, not including the costs of reduced employment and output. The three middle quintiles would see their paychecks cut between $880 and $1,500, or 2.9% to 2.7% of income. The rich would pay 1.7%. Cap and trade is the ideal policy for every Beltway analyst who thinks the tax code is too progressive, as it hurts the poor more than the rich. Yesterday the CBO took another look at the pending Climate Change bills, but instead of reporting on its effect on individual Americans, it examines how the legislation will affect the economy in general....and its not good: CNSNews.com Climate Change Legislation Would Slow Economy, Says Congressional Budget OfficeTell me again why congress is considering climate change legislation again? Doesn't congress read the News....the stolen Emails....evidence that the whole global warming thing is a fraud ? For Pete's Sake !!!! Maybe they should investigate those stolen emails first. Maybe the legislation would not be necessary. Unless of course global warming was never about the environment, instead it was about increasing government control of our lives and redistribution of income on a worldwide basis. | Settlement Freeze is Netanyahu Challenge to Abbas: "Time to Put Tuchas Offen Tisch!" Posted: 25 Nov 2009 01:12 PM PST Today Bibi Netanyahu played a brilliant move, in Yiddish its called Hey put tuchas offen tisch, literally, Hey put your "arse" on the table (put up or shut up). He offered a ten month freeze in settlement building in exchange for restarting the peace plans. I doubt very strongly the freeze will every happen. The truth is the real reason there is no peace is the Palestinians don't want peace. No other country in the world has made concessions the way Israel has. Since 1977, we they given up areas of land three times the size of the State of Israel. The Oslo process began in 1993. Sixteen years have passed since then, and they are no closer to a permanent settlement. The Palestinians don't want peace, its bad for buisness. It is the hatred of Israel that allows the PA to keep power. It deflects public anger from their own fraud, theft of public funds and incompetence, to that "evil Zionist entity:" Netanyahu: Settlement freeze would prove Israel really wants peace |
